Hi everyone – instead of a marathon this Spring, I am training for a very different type of challenge and it’s all for a very worthy cause, so please sponsor me… a fiver or a tenner… maybe more if you are feeling generous!
At the end of last year, I joined at Emerald Publishing, and am now working with a really great bunch of people. 2017 is both Emerald’s and Heart Research UK's 50th Anniversary, so I wanted to get involved and mark the occasion by getting out of my comfort zone and doing something different.
The charity is very close to the heart of Emerald - in February, 2014, Martin Fojt (Chairman of Emerald Publishing) suffered a sudden and fatal heart attack, which was a huge surprise and loss to everyone. Sudden Cardiac Death (SDC) of this type is responsible for over 3 million deaths per year, worldwide and is the focus of a specific piece of research that we will support this year.
