Sri Lanka played a big part in Carolyne's life and formed the inspiration for her doctoral thesis. After the tsunami of 2004, great friends of Carolyne's built a girl's home, the Sparkes Home, on the east coast in an area badly affected by the tsunami. Carolyne was one of the first supporters and always kept in close touch. The home now needs additional space and funds to ensure continued training and education opportunities for the girls. I hope we will be able to fund the extension in Carolyne's memory and lay the foundations for a scholarship fund.
