Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Some of you may remember I raised money for this charity a few years ago. I am unable to participate in this year's Bike4Life event in Mali but thought my birthday would be a great way to raise awareness and funds for a charity that is close to my heart.

FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance is actively working out in Pakistan along with the Aga Khan Development Network to provide a vast range of resources to help assist vulnerable people affected following the disasterous floods. To read about their recent efforts, please read the following press releases:

FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance is a crisis response and disaster risk management agency established in Europe, North America and South and Central Asia. It helps vulnerable communities build resilience to natural and man-made disasters and compliments the provision of humanitarian relief principally in the developing world. FOCUS is an affiliate of the Aga Khan Development Network, a group of institutions working to improve opportunities and living conditions, for people of all faiths and origins, in specific regions of the developing world.

During atrocities like the Tsunami, they provided aid & shelter for such communities. They continued to provide support once other agencies had left, helping these communities re-establish themselves. They also play an active role in anticipating disaster - visiting villages in remote areas to study the history of disasters that have occurred in those areas, helping these communities set up emergency strategies and emergency teams within the village to prepare for future disasters, thus limiting the number of lives being lost. For more information about FOCUS and the communities they have helped, visit: www.akdn.org/focus
