On Saturday, 5th September 2009, I'll be taking part in the Friends of Forest Holme Lunar Walk 2009 (their second such event, my first!). The walk actual starts at midnight so, strictly speaking, I'll be walking through the early hours (not too many of them I hope) of Sunday morning.

There are two walks on offer... a 6km and a 12km walk. For some insane reason, I've put myself forward for the 12km! Now, I'll have you know, right now, that I am no walker. I am, in fact, a lazy B. Why walk any distance when you can drive there and arrive quicker (maybe) and drier?

Why am I doing this? Well, being serious now, 9 years ago, I lost my mother to cancer. Her last days were spent in the care of the nurses at Forest Holme. They took really good care of her and were most supportive of her needs as well as ours during what was a horrible time. The people at Forest Holme were simpy fantastic and, well, I'd like to give them a little something back...
