My story
Firstly, Thank you visiting my Just Giving Site. Many of you will know that participating in the London Marathon has long been an ambition of mine to realise when I reach the ripe old age of 30, having hung up the old football boots.
I will be raising money for the Scleroderma Society. Running for the society not only helps me to realise a personal ambition but allows me the opportunity to raise money for a cause that is close to the heart of my family.
My Auntie Margaret, having been diagnosed with Scleroderma in 2008 (a rare and incurable skin & auto immune disorder), has been committed to raising awareness and supporting other people with the condition. She is a very strong and inspiring woman and I was honoured when Mags asked if I would run on behalf of the charity.
All the pain and hardships of training and finally running the marathon are non-comparable to the symptoms and effects of Scleroderma, so by sponsoring me I will promise there will no whinging, no moaning and certainly no slacking off in the 4 months of preparation.

Scleroderma is a disease that can damage the skin and internal organs through scarring and poor blood supply. People with scleroderma live with constant anxiety about their future, not knowing how far or how fast the disease will progress. The Scleroderma Society is there to support and advocate.
