Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Accepting that I am somewhat overweight (technically obese), prone to the odd dose of vertigo and basically have little enthusiasm when it comes to undertaking anything overly physical, I have decided that as I hit the big 50 this October, to set myself a number of “senior” challenges throughout the year.
Also 50 this year (in addition to Match of the Day) are the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Cystic Fibrosis is a life-shortening inherited disease, affecting over 10,000 people in the UK. Today only half of those with Cystic Fibrosis live beyond 40 and that figure is vastly improved since the Trust began in 1964 when life expectancy was often no more than 5 years. This reduction is in part due to the amount of time and effort spent on research by the Trust – but this all costs money.
Another charitable group and on my doorstep is SensationALL. This group provides a multi-sensory play centre locally for children and young adults with multiple support needs.
My challenges are as follows:
Nippy Dipper Boxing Day plunge into the North Sea.
Climb Ben Nevis during June / July
Ride the North cycle from Inverness to Aberdeen in August
Almost like an alternative triathlon!!
I also have a number of other ideas, which I may add during the year.
Should the sum of £2000 (£1999 does not do it) be reached during the 12 month period then I will have my somewhat hairy back waxed – definitely no training for that !!!!!!!!!!!
