Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My eldest daughter Cerys was diagnosed with a rare blood disease called Aplastic Anaemia in April 2013. Her bone marrow had failed and she needed a bone marrow transplant to stand any chance of survival.

Cerys was admitted to the Oncology unit within the Children's Hospital for Wales in Cardiff whilst she underwent various tests and needed regular blood transfusions. This time was full of upset and uncertainty for the family and we were overwhelmed by the support shown to us by LATCH both emotionally and financially.

Cerys successfully underwent a bone marrow transplant in June 2013 thanks to a bone marrow donation from her younger sister Megan. Cerys has just returned to school and made a remarkable recovery. Cerys still requires occasional monitoring and trips to Hospital but these visits have reduced dramatically as her new immune system has improved,

Cerys loved the playroom located on the Oncology ward which is funded by LATCH and made full use of the toys, arts and crafts and the play co-ordinators who arrange a variety of activities for patients and their siblings.

LATCH also provide breaks and a range of activities for patients and their families which really help focus on the positives during such uncertain times. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the fantastic staff and volunteers associated with LATCH.

I promised myself as soon as Cerys was well I would start fundraising for LATCH to try and repay the support we have been shown over the last few years. I chose Mount Toubkal because as this is an exciting challenge and one I hope to complete whilst maintaining a fair work / life balance. This will be a great challenge both mentally and physically but more importantly I will be raising money for such a fantastic cause and a charity very close to me.

I want to raise as much money as possible to ensure the continued support to all the families affected by Cancer and blood diseases

Please give generously for this fantastic charity.
