THE KILI CLIMB FOR KIDS 2010 · 23 January 2010

Amani Children's Home rescues street children from malnutrition, homelessness and abuse at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. We are committed to providing a safe place for children to heal, grow and learn. Providing your contact details allows us to say thank you!

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Here are a few examples of what your donation can buy:

$20 (£12) - Feeds one child for one month

$50 (£30) - Provides medical care for one child for one year

$100 (£60) – Provides three healthy meals for all the children at Amani for one day

$150 (£90) - Pays complete primary school fees (tuition, fees, uniform, school lunch, etc.) for one child

$348 (£209) - Provides full care for one child for a year (school, clothing, food, medical care and counseling)

A reminder about the cause:  I am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for the Amani Children’s Home, which is dedicated to rescuing homeless and orphaned children in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania. Amani (which means “peace” in Swahili) provides children with healthy food & clean water, clean clothes, medical care, a safe place to live and an education.  Tanzania is one of the poorest countries in the world and the average per capita income is just $350 (£210) per annum.  There are estimated to be over 2.5 million orphaned children in Tanzania.  Most of them have lost their parents to diseases like malaria and AIDS, which has ravaged the county.  These children often live on the streets because they have nowhere else to go and street children can’t attend school or go to a doctor when they are ill.

Amani is a small grass-roots organization staffed primarily by Tanzanians and, as such, is in a unique position to effectively address the needs of the local community.  Every donation makes a difference, not just to the Home, but to the local community.

Sending you all much love and many thanks for any contribution to this worthy cause,

Amanda
