Story

I have decided to challenge myself to do the Virgin London Marathon for the Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) charity. As many of you know Carol my mother-in-law died of PSP in 2006. PSP is a degenerative brain disease which affects eye movement, balance, mobility, speech and swallowing. Over time PSP can rob a person of the ability to walk, talk, feed themselves or communicate effectively with the world around them, yet they usually remain mentally alert. This was the hardest part for Carol as she was fully aware of everything that was going on around her yet could not join in conversation or activities with us. Even though the average age of onset is 62 sadly we lost Carol at this age after a 5 year battle with the disease. My goal is to raise a minimum of £2012 to support the work of the PSP charity in supporting sufferers of the disease and their carers, so all sponsorship would be greatly appreciated. Donating on this page is really easy so please dig deep and give what you can. Thanks for all your support. Amanda x
