<p>Hey guys,</p> <p>Basically, in August 2012 I'll be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro [all 5,895 metres of it] along with 24 other Sheffield Uni students for the charity Dig Deeper.</p> <p>Dig Deeper is such an incredible cause; it helps to counter the immeasurable poverty in Kenya by providing sustainable relief in the form of energy and, crucially, water.&nbsp; A lot is to be said for short-term relief, but the great thing about this charity is that with long-term solutions in place, hopefully those living in Kenyan communities will one day be able to escape the poverty trap altogether.</p> <p>The money that you donate to Dig Deeper will literally save lives, and even if you can only spare a few virtual pence, the smallest contribution will be greatly appreciated.&nbsp; Find out more at <a href="http://www.digdeep.org.uk">www.digdeep.org.uk</a></p> <p>Kilimanjaro is the largest free-standing mountain in the world, and the highest mountain in Africa, so it's a pretty big deal, and the training is going to be intense to say the least.&nbsp; The climb lasts a total of 6 days, [and there are no showers pon de mountain, in case you were wondering], it includes 5am starts, and we'll have to&nbsp;keep trecking&nbsp;through blisters, altitude sickness, and whatever other ailments happen to come our way, so it is going to require some serious stamina!</p> <p>I'll be doing loads to raise money/awareness over the next year - a cheeky half marathon here, a casual sky dive there, donning ludicrous outfits to stand in the highstreet with a bucket, and generally making an idiot out of myself [only this time it'll be for charity!]</p> <p>Just Giving is 100% safe and secure; they won't pass your details on or bombard you with junk mail.&nbsp; If you pay tax, make sure it's gift-aided.</p> <p>Thankyou so so much guys, it's really appreciated!</p> <p>Amelia xxxxxxxxxxxxx</p>
