Story
I am going to be walking the coast of Kent (clockwise) over the next few months to raise money for a Kent based charity, The Dandelion Trust for Children (www.dandeliontrust.org.uk) and Kiss it Better, a charity for children with cancer (www.gosh.org/kiss-it-better). Both are excellent charities and I am thrilled to be able to raise money for them.
Many stretches of the British coastline are justly celebrated whether it be the haunting Suffolk coastline that Benjamin Britten found so inspirational or the sublime beauty of the Gower peninsula. Apart from the white cliffs of Dover, the coast of Kent is largely ignored as people speed through the county on their way to the continent either by rail or car.
It is now more than a decade since I moved to Kent and during that time I have become increasingly fascinated by its coastline. From the forgotten hinterlands of the marshes to the early 19th-century architecture overlooking the harbour at Ramsgate to the beach at Deal immortalised by Edward Ardizzone in the 'Tim books' there is much to beguile.
I am really excited about my walk and hope that you will give generously to what are excellent recipients.

Please note that as there is currently no facility on 'Justgiving' to nominate two charities, Dandelion has agreed to handle all donations and to pass on 50% to Kiss it Better.
