Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. When I started running never ever did I ever think I’d run 5k let alone a 10k and a half marathon never crossed my mind, it’s just not what sane people do! However with every run I know that at the end of each run I return to my safe place and my family. Pushing on with my family support I tried half marathons... And sadistically I quite liked them (well the medals at least!) but still didn’t want to run 26.2 miles for ‘fun’. Yet now somehow I find myself signed up for MK’s marathon in May. I work for a housing association and every day we see how important safe secure housing makes a difference to people’s lives and so it seems natural to be running for an organisation that helps support people who lack what the majority of us take for granted, a safe place, a home. The Winter Night Shelter in MK understands everybody has the right to somewhere they can feel safe that allows them access to the support they need to start to rebuild their lives. Not only providing shelter through the harsh conditions of winter-they also provide year round welfare support, access to services, housing advice and the opportunities to find work. So today to support  them that means fostering my internal runner and whilst I’m out training in the freezing cold over the coming months, I’m safe in the knowledge that I get to go home, we need to help those not so fortunate.
