Epilepsy Society supporter Amit Patel and the Top House Golf Society from Aveley, are taking part in a golf day to raise funds for the Charity on the 19Aug 2011 at Toot Hill Golf Club in Ongar.
“I am organising this day in memory of my brother, Rakesh Patel who was a regular in the Top House pub in Aveley and loved playing golf. It means a lot to me to in organising this golf day, especially in aid of a cause so close to my heart. My brother was diagnosed with epilepsy two years ago, aged 35 and unfortunately passed away in November 2010 with epilepsy being one of the causes. I knew virtually nothing about the condition and information wasn’t readily accessible until I got in touch with the Epilepsy Society. They were really helpful in explaining more about epilepsy and giving me the chance to express my biggest fears and concerns.”
Local Companies have sponsored each hole at the golf course and donated prizes that will be raffled off during the evening of the event, with all proceeds going to,
‘The National Epilepsy Society’.
Epilepsy is the most common serious neurological condition in the world and affects 456,000 people in the UK – one in every 131 people – and it can affect anyone at any age. In the UK around 75 people are diagnosed with epilepsy every day.
