My story
Rotary started to immunise the world's children in 1985 and billions of doses have been administered by Rotarians since then. At the start there were 1000 cases a day in 125 countries. Now there are just a few cases each year across 4 countries. Last year India had no cases for the first time. We now need to finish the job and eradicate Polio for ever. Bill Gates has agreed to match all the money we raise and has donated over $400m already
Ampthill Rotary has always strongly supported this campaign and with all 1.2 million Rotarians across the world we are having a major push to raise the money to get it done.
We raised £3,700 in 2010 and over £4000 in 2011 - and we hope to do that again in 2012. The students in all Ampthill's schools are again raising funds for us. We will be collecting at Waitrose on 24/25th February. We have an all day Open House at Northridge, The Avenue on the 23rd; a cake stall in The Square on Saturday 3rd March morning - and we have many other fundraising events. Look out for St Andrew's Church - it will be floodlit in honour of the Polio Campaign for a week starting 18th February.
So please dig deep and donate now. £5 will treat 25 children and save their lives. Thank you so much.
