Those who know me know that I've changed a lot over the past few years, I've lost a lot of weight through healthy eating and decided I wanted to get fit too. So I've signed up to do the Great North Run. And what better reason to get fit than to help others!

Most people know someone who has suffered from a life limiting illness, and how difficult it can be for both the sufferer and those close to them to cope. The work that Hartlepool Hospice do to provide the care and support these people need is inspirational. I was lucky enough to have a month long placement with the fundraising team during university, and saw the tireless fundraising efforts of the staff, both during and outside of work hours, to raise the funds for the palliative care required by patients, and for the support needed by carers.

Everyone that works at the Hospice is passionate about their role, and knows the amazing impact they have upon peoples lives. The hospice only recieves 24% government funding each year, which leaves them with a huge 76% to raise themselves. This equals to £2.34 million!!!! They need our support.
