Story

I am cycling around 100 miles in 1 day.

It goes through the countryside and landscape that David Hockney has recently been capturing in a series of paintings.

The idea behind it is to raise money for the charity Village by Village (check out the link - www.villagebyvillage.org.uk, BUT DEFINITELY WATCH THE VIDEO <), which helps rural Ghanaian villages in poverty by constructing schools, helping to build small businesses, and providing education and sanitation. They rely on donations to provide materials, and volunteers to work side by side with the village community to help build out of poverty.

I have a blog to log my journey so you can all see how I'm getting on - I'll post up pictures of where I cycle through, my route plan, and other stuff. The link is: http://amyhuckfield-charitybikeride.tumblr.com/

Once I have raised the £850 target, I hope to be travelling out to Ghana in January to help use the money I've raised to help build community buildings, possibly even a mini hospital!!

After my trip to all of you who lovely people who have donated I will either post or email you photos from the trip, plus some of my diary entries from my time out there - so you can get a sense of what it was like out there, and what work I got up to.

What your money will go towards...

£100 - One basic toilet

£100 - One child in school ( average length of time in school 3 years +)

£ 1,000 - Village scholarship scheme

£ 1,000 - Village sanitation scheme

£ 5,000 - Well

Any donation made will go straight out to Ghana to fund these projects, they are not spent on staples and head office overheads.

Any donation, however small or big is greatly appreciated!
