Story
Hello, and thanks for stopping by! I'm raising funds for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, a London-based rescue organization founded in 1860. I consider myself extremely lucky to have been ruled by a rescue cat for eighteen fur-filled years. My feline overlord (overlady?), Poco, loved head-butting people, nose-smudging windows, demanding belly rubs, swishing her question-mark tail, and greeting everyone with her smoker's-voice meow. She would happily doze in any available lap or on any sunny windowsill, and she never met a cardboard box she couldn't squeeze herself into! Poco saw me through two out-of-state moves, a long-distance relationship with my now-husband, the births of my two children, and multiple job changes. For more than a third of my life she was a constant source of love, comfort, and furry warmth.
I miss Poco every day, and I've joined Team Battersea to run London Marathon 2024 in her memory. I'm honored to support Battersea because of all the incredible work they do. Their rescue centers welcome every cat and dog, no matter how old, sick, or needy. They provide essential medical care and physical therapy, and they get to know their dogs and cats thoroughly, to find them the perfect new home. Battersea also advises pet adopters, campaigns for animal welfare legislation, and offers grants to other rescue organizations around the world — and all this is just scratching the surface! For more information on the countless other ways Battersea helps animals, please click on their logo toward the bottom of this page.
Thank you very much for your contribution! It means so much to me and to all the animals who find loving homes through Battersea.
