Story
<p>This summer, I will be heading to Thailand, to an area called Pakkred, just outside Bangkok. There I will working as a volunteer with the Charity CCD (Christian Care Foundation for Disabled Children) in orphanages with children who suffer from a range of disabilities.<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: small;"> </span></span></p>

Thailand is predominantly Buddhist country, children with disabilities are considered to have sinned in their past life (The Buddhist religion follows the belief of reincarnation) and are therefore being punished for past sins in this life. Thousands of children have been abandoned because of the stigma associated with disability, there is also a whole host of other reasons as to why children are abandoned such as poverty and lack of knowledge and facilities to care for a disabled child, just to name a few. The children that are abandoned have a range of disabilities from a simple cleft palette, Downs syndrome or cerebral palsy.</span></span></p>

The government homes, Rachawadee Girls, Rachawadee Boys and Baan Fuang Fah house around 2000 children. With resources stretched far too thin, nearly all of these children will simply degenerate from a lack of human interaction and love, something which we all take for granted.</span></span></p>
