Just over 10 weeks to go and I'm much closer to my target than it looks as Chartis has agreed to match all contributions made by my UK colleagues (thank you Simon). So today this puts me at a whopping £2462.63! A huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far. The training is going well and the best thing is that you have to eat more, which for anyone who knows me well is a huge bonus :-) The only downside being a lot less wine as the training runs get longer :-(

Welcome to my London Marathon JustGiving page. I'm really excited about running my first marathon and very pleased that Whizz-kidz accepted my application.

Whizz-Kidz is a charity that is all about giving disabled children and young people the independence to enjoy an active childhood by providing them with customised mobility equipment, training, advice and life skills. Their vision is to ensure that every child with a mobility impairment in the UK is given the opportunity to fulfil their potential and lead an active childhood.

You would think that the NHS would provide for these children but it doesn't because they only focus on meeting clinical needs and provide a basic range of equipment. Unfortunately most parents with disabled children can't afford this equipment either; 29% of families with a disabled child live in poverty, and 84% are in debt (on average it costs 3 times more to raise a disabled child). This is why they need our help.

Since 1990 they have changed the lives of thousands of disabled children, and given them the opportunity to do things most children take for granted; go out and play with friends, go to mainstream schools, take part in sport and fully participate in family life.

Visit their website to see some of the children they have helped http://www.whizz-kidz.org.uk/aboutus/meetthekidz2/

and now for the technical stuff......donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
