Story
These days, it is highly likely that most people either have, or will know someone suffering from cancer. What's more, it is estimated that 1 in 3 of us will develop cancer at some point in our lives. And this number is increasing. Cancer Research UK is a world leading charity and is at the cutting edge of cancer biology. Already, their work has helped to develop new drugs and treatments as well as gain more understanding as to the nature of the disease and the risk factors contributing to it. As a result, survival rates are on the rise. Your donation will help to support this research and allow it to continue so that more and more lives can be saved and development of the disease can be prevented.
On Friday the 23rd August 2013, we will begin a 3 day cycle from Hertford to Paris. This is a 200 mile route that makes use of the newly designed 'Avenue Verte' route, designed to take you all the way through the french countryside and into Paris.
The first leg of the route is quite possibly the toughest. It will comprise of a 60/70 mile stretch from (somewhere in) London to Newhaven, East Sussex. This will be followed by catching an 11pm ferry to Dieppe, France, where we aim to be at around 4am. So after only around 4 hours sleep on , we begin the second leg of the journey, 45 miles to the town of Gournay-En-Bray.
The final leg of the journey will begin the next day, with a 57 mile strecth into Paris.
This will be extremely physically demanding for two people who have never cycled anything more than 15 miles before, but we hope to raise funds for Cancer Research UK, to make this venture more worthwile!
