Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As
many of you know, I'm in
Tacloban, where the Super Typhoon hit last year. I go out each day to shift debris, sledge-hammer ruined houses, dig trenches and build transitional shelters.
The typhoon was so devastating that it destroyed or severely damaged 1.1 million homes. Huge progress has been made and nine months on, the rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure nears 50%.
All Hands Volunteers seeks to rehouse those affected with the minimum amount of disruption to their lives: within their own communities. If we can raise just one Philippine Peso for every house that was destroyed, we can build nine homes and strengthen the community there are in.
I'm running 10 whole kilometres in the sweltering heat of the
Philippines, which is quite hard to train for when you're also clearing rubble, sledge-hammering and
lifting endless amounts of lumber for eight hours a day. I would really like to raise at
least a tenner for every kilometer I'm running and a team of 40 of us are all
running this August 31st to raise enough money for the first house.
Together we're running the equivalent distance of between New York City
and Boston! So, if you'd consider donating a few quid, please
support us and together we'll be able to build a house for an affected
family. Thank you.
