I'm completely new to running so signing up to the University team to raise funds for the Sheffield Scanner is a massive motivation for me!

The Sheffield Half Marathon (www.runforall.com/events/half-marathon/sheffield-half-marathon/) will take place on 8 April 2018. We’re raising funds for the University’s £2 million campaign to bring an MRI-PET scanning facility to Sheffield, the first of its kind in Yorkshire.

The MRI-PET scanner combines images from Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) to provide a superior diagnostic picture in a single scan. It will enable to see what is happening inside a diseased organ with unprecedented detail and whether is responding to treatment. It will be invaluable to diseases such as Epilepsy, Parkinson, Multiple Sclerosis, Heart and lung diseases, Diabetes, Cancer, among others.
