Dear Friends,
Please let me ask you a question: How often do we concern ourselves to think if there is water to drink or make that much needed cup of coffee, or is there a restroom available nearby?
I honestly can tell you that I don’t, and neither do my husband and children – we take these life essentials for granted. However, it is NOT the case in alarmingly many places all over the world, and the most unbelievable fact is that even here in the United States there are areas where clean water, basic hygiene and restrooms are not available to many people, including children and elderly. The numbers are heartbreaking: worldwide, 844 million people do not have access to clean water and 2.3 billion people do not have a decent toilet, 800 children die every day from disease which is a direct result of lack of safe water!
I am taking the opportunity to change that! With the support of HSBC I am raising funds and awareness for the international nonprofit WATERAID by joining a team of my colleagues for five days on a 100 km trek across Greenland deep in the Arctic Circle. I am paying my own way and have committed to raise maximum support dollars through crowdfunding.
As I am training for the challenges of the journey, please take a moment to lend your support to me and WATERAIDs initiatives financially and by spreading the word. Your contributions are fully tax deductible and I promise to keep you updated with notes and photos while I am in the Arctic. Next time you are drinking your morning cup of coffee or take a restroom break, imagine that you can change someone’s life by helping them gain these simple, basic dignities we take for granted every day!
Thank you for your support!
