I am aiming to fulfill a lifelong dream of going to Everest Base Camp in April 2010.  The trip is booked and training has begun but there is also another point to this.  This trip enables me to try to raise some funds for the treatment of children with arthritis.

Abbie, my daughter has JIA (juvenille ideopathic arthritis) in both of her knees; the condition will need lifelong treatment and has no cure.  She is a normal little girl but as a parent of a child with JIA the future prognosis remains unknown at at times too scary to consider.  This trek will hopefully also raise funds for the Children's Arthritis Trust and the treatment of JIA.
