Step out for Stroke · 18 May 2013 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Stroke affected our lives over 10 years ago when Andy had the first of 3 strokes in 2000/ 2001. Since this time a lot has changed in terms of stroke prevention and stroke support services largely due to the great work of the Stroke Association. The Stroke Association is involved in funding stroke research as well as providing services to support stroke survivors and their carers.

However the funding spent on stroke research per patient living with the disease (based on 2007/2008 data) was just £22 vs £295 on cancer research.

We are hoping to do our bit for the Stroke Association this year by raising awareness as well as fundraising through a variety of activities. On 18 May we'll be completing Step Out For Stroke as a family. It's taking place at Vale Park here in Aylesbury.

On 8 June, with the support of the Oaks Community Church, we will be holding a Sip for Stroke at the Oaks Book and Coffee Shop on Elm Farm in Aylebsury. (10am - 2pm, HP21 7NQ)

Andy may even get a skydive in at some point ...

For now we have no target but perhaps if you don't live close enough to join us at the sip for Stroke event you'd consider supporting us by making a small donation on this page.
