Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) opened in 1852 and was the first hospital in the UK dedicated solely to the treatment of children and had just 10 beds. Today, GOSH is the country's leading centre for treating sick children with their research partner, the UCL Institute of Child Health, and is one of the top five paediatric research hospitals in the world.
Their motto "The child first and always" is at the heart of everything they do and guides the work of both the hospital and the charity.
Each year the hospital responds to 200,000 patient visits for children ranging in age from premature babies to young adults in their late teens.
Often the children are suffering from life-threatening or life-limiting conditions that are extremely complex. As GOSH have the UK's largest number of paediatric specialties under one roof, children are able to receive the tailored care they need from world-class multi-disciplinary teams. This is critical for the effective treatment of the children and is one of the key factors which makes GOSH such a remarkable place.
