Cardiac Risk in the Young · 16 December 2013

Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by the sudden cardiac death. We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

I don’t do Christmas cards – I’ll not bore you with all the commercialism claptrap………

What I do at this time of year is donate to a charity.

Last Christmas, and over the whole of this last year, I want to challenge myself and do some proper fundraising. I chose CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young – for the reasons below.

I set out to try and raise £10,000 for CRY. Unfortunately I have not done nearly as well as I had hoped so will continue this year with more fund raising. Yes, my sponsored weight loss failed miserably!

What am I doing it for? Back in February of 2013 Berkhamsted squash club lost an amazing young man – Harry Faulkner. Harry was 18, an elite player, and destined to do great things in squash and life. Tragically, he suffered a heart attack and passed away whilst playing in a first team match at St Albans.

I feel very strongly about this charity and they work that they do. I guess it may have something to do with my two absolutely amazing children who I adore and I feel more blessed with as each day goes by! Add to this I work primarily in prep schools and come into contact with some fabulous young people every day.

Please dig deep – and pass this on to your friends to donate too – I really want to try and make a bigger difference this coming year.

Look after those that are special to you.........
