I have run lots of 10k's, 10 miles and half marathons but will not get sponsorship on them because it is my sport! The marathon is something different and jokingly always said I would do 10 before I died and this is number 9! Gulp. The Yorkshire Marathon has been established partly in memory to Jane Tomlinson who many will know was a prolific fundraiser and whose funeral was at St Anne's Cathedral in Leeds. Hence the link to CAFOD.

I ask for only a donation of £2 per person but then using Twitter please retweet to as many people as possible. In this way I would hope a large sum of money can be raised at little cost to the donor.

Overseas aid is not popular at the moment and therefore an even better reason for running for CAFOD. Look at the faces of hungry children and ask yourself is it that child's fault it is hungry? Would you be grateful for anything for your child if your child was in that condition? The problem lies with misuse of power not little children. £2 is the ask.

I hope to do this marathon in 4hours 30 minutes or 16200 seconds. Wouldn't it be good to have every second sponsored for £2? That is £32,400!

That is easy for the you making the donation and I just like to run so that is the easy bit for me (I lie the Marathon hurts). The real hard bit is the work CAFOD does.

Thank you for donating. It is not your £2 that has done good - it is you.

Bit of training rubbish now! After a disappointing summer racing (hot weather - mmmm!) I have completed my first 18 mile run in 2 hours 45 minutes. Sunday 1st September was the Leeds Country Way. A 65 mile relay round Leeds run in 6 legs of pairs. completed my 10 mile section in 1 hour 22 minutes - a beast of a run so I am on track (or rather off it).

Many thanks for the tremendous support I am getting. Every single donation is massively appreciated. CAFOD are currently working with relief agencies of all faiths and none in Syria where to be quite honest no explanation is needed!

Thanks again!
