British Gas Great North Swim 2011 · 18 June 2011 ·

The Prostate Cancer Research Foundation has two aims, the first to promote independent worldwide research into all aspects of prostate cancer; and the second to spread the crucial knowledge gathered from that research as far afield as possible, via an internationally recognised forum, attended by the world’s top prostate cancer experts. The Prostate Cancer Research Foundation is also the home of the Bob Monkhouse ‘Give a few bob’ campaign www.giveafewbob.org.

Story

Last year the Great North Swim was unfortunately cancelled due to a sudden bloom of toxic algae in the lake! This year we're giving it another go and to make up the distance we didn't do last year, this year we will be taking part in the 2 mile swim at Lake Windermere (water temperature about 14C!!) on 17th June.

We have been continuing to swim for our university teams and have taken part in other open water swims over the last few years. Please help us to raise money for this brilliant cause.

Prostate cancer was brought to our attention very recently when our Grandad was diagnosed in 2009. We hope to raise money to allow further research into diagnosis and therapy for this disease, the most common cancer in men.

Please give generously! Thank you!

Andy and Bethan

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
