CRN Fight Night · 27 May 2010

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity supports people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end-of-life care. Its ‘Outstanding’ services are provided free of charge to patients and their families to help make every moment count.

Story

On the 27th May I will be fighting someone I have never met at a white collar boxing event in the Chiswell Street Brewery, London (www.crnfightnight.com). At 48, I have never boxed before and my last fight was at school.

I played tennis with Simon at least once a week for the last 7 years. A tremendous guy and a great athlete, I have not beaten him for three years, or taken a set off him for two.

We played tennis for the last time on the 4th February 2010 just 3 days after he was told he had 2 inoperable brain tumours and probably only weeks to live. He was as competitive as ever.

So this fight is for you Simon, and for Sheila and Freddy who you adored and who have shown more courage in the last few months than I hope my family will ever have to.

The money donated goes to the Arthur Rank Hospice in Cambridge (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTT8GJYdWnQ&feature=player_embedded) that cared so fantastically for Simon until he passed away peacefully on the 12th March 2010. The choice of charity was Simon's.

They need your money to allow people like Simon the dignity and comfort they deserve in their last days so please give generously and wish me luck.
