<p>Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.</p> <p>I am trying to raise some money for a cause very close to my heart- every year I have to deal with a terrible disease called "Grass Sickness" in horses.</p> <p>Unlike just about every other disease I deal with in my job, Grass Sickness is not fully understood, nobody knows what causes it and treatment in most cases is futile.</p> <p>A few horses with the less acute form of the disease do survive, but it takes months of careful nursing by their owners. Most cases are fatal and it is horrible, so I have to euthanase the acute cases as soon as I am sure of the diagnosis, it is heartbreaking. A pony, donkey or horse can die within a few hours of the first signs</p> <p>The sudden loss of a much-loved equine friend is devastating.&nbsp;Where we live in Perthshire, Grass Sickness is relatively common. We vets need to understand more about it. The Equine Grass Sickness Fund funds important research into the cause of the disease and also subsidises treatment for selected cases.</p> <p>Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
