Story
Thanks for viewing my JustGiving page.
In September 2018 I am joining 85 people to cycle 750 miles from Guernsey to Amsterdam in 8 days, to raise funds for the Sarah Groves Foundation. I need to raise a minimum of £2000 to participate and I hope you can help me achieve this.
I ride occasionally at home, am currently overweight and in need of getting fitter - this is a trigger to make all of these things happen and raise money for a good cause. The most I had ridden before i started training was 53 miles and that took a few days to recover so this will undoubtedly be my greatest physical challenge to date. In addition in May I was diagnosed with dvt in one of my legs for the second time in 7 years. Whilst it meant I had to suspend training for a bit it has reinforced my desire to participate and complete this ride although being on blood thinners does make me a little more nervous about coming off!!!
So what is the Sarah Groves Foundation?
On 6 April 2013 Sarah Groves was tragically murdered on a houseboat in Kashmir.
Due to Sarah's insatiable love of life, together with her desire to make a change in the world, and her determination to help as many people as she could, the Sarah Groves Foundation has been set up in Guernsey as a Charitable Trust. It focuses on Sarah's inspirations and aspirations, which came from art, children, adventure, and fitness. The fund is continuing Sarah's legacy, which is all about love, helping others, and achieving ones dreams. To read more about the Foundation and to see where the money will be spent, please visit www.sarahgroves.org.
Under the category of “fitness”, a 750 mile bike ride between Guernsey – Amsterdam – Guernsey will be supported by the Foundation in order to raise funds to support its overall aims.
Thank you very much for your support.
