Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Honest, I'd only had one pint (of beer) when I agreed to accompany a so called "friend" on a trip to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. But as he and his wife, who are long standing friends of mine, spend so much time and effort in working for Valley CIDS - nothing to do with the police- I could hardly refuse to support them by raising funds for the organisation which you can read more about on this or their own website.

In simple terms, it gives support to families and kids in deprived areas of Derbyshire and goes some way to keeping youths off the streets where they might otherwise go astray. So the next time you see kids hanging about and up to no good and think to yourself: "Bloomin' kids!", just give a thought to people who are actually doing something about it.

I am funding the trip myself so you can be assured that all donations go to the charity.

I must point out that you will be supporting my attempt to climb to the 19,000 foot summit. Success cannot be guaranteed because there is no telling who is going to be affected by altitude sickness although younger people are more susceptible. So my 64 years could be an advantage.
