Thanks for taking the time to take a look.

Age-Link is simple & effective, run solely by volunteers, so every penny goes into serving this vulnerable and often forgotten about section of our society - I am proud at having been given the opportunity to raise funds for Age-Link through running / jogging / walking / crawling around the 2012 Virgin London Marathon.

My involvement with the charity goes back 10 years and now includes being a committee member, driver, bingo caller and even a svelte-like Santa ! We organise monthly tea parties, Christmas dinners, trips to the sea-side and Thames boat-trips, for 500 + house-bound elderly throughout central & greater London.

In my youth, housing provided by the State was referred to as "council housing", the spin-meisters now call it "social housing". To me, social implies being an integral part of society - the housing estates that a lot of these house-bound elderly are living on are anything but social, leaving them totally isolated and all too often "waiting for god".

Age-Link functions put a smile back on their faces, giving them the opportunity to talk to friends, eat well and know that people really do care. This really is service in the community, making a massive difference, when all too often council provision is being drastically cut. Any donation, however small, will really make a difference (and get matched by ING !!)

Remember, giving isn't just about money, it is also about giving your time (more difficult for a lot of us I appreciate). If you'd like to see how to get involved with Age-Link, let me know.

I appreciate that there a lot of wonderful charities making a real difference to the causes they represent. If Age-Link doesn't resonate with you, please take a look at the other excellent causes that the other members of the ING Winged-Feet team are representing.
