Story

Life Cycle 6 2016 aims to raise £1million in support of breast cancer research at The University of Nottingham, to support three areas of work:

Detecting Cancer Early: With the aim of creating the world’s first blood test to detect breast cancer early.

Stopping Cancer From Spreading: To help us understand what makes cancer spread and stop it.

Developing Personalised Treatments For Breast Cancer Patients

I'm taking part in the 170 mile, three-day ride from Bridlington to Morecombe and plan to raise at least £1,000.

Like many families, mine has been effected by breast cancer.  Both my mother and mother-in-law were diagnosed and required major surgery as part of their treatment.  However, not all breast cancers are caught in time or respond to treatment. A very good friend from primary school was diagnosed and died in her early 30s, leaving behind a young family.

By supporting me and the other riders you can help researchers:

- create a blood test to detect breast cancer early, before it can develop;

- discover why breast cancer spreads, identifying ways to stop it, and;

- develop targeted treatments that will work best for each patient.
