Next June I have the amazing opportunity to travel to Africa with the Leeds raising and giving society in aid of the charity Moving Mountains where I will be spending just over two weeks in Africa, one in Kenya and one in Tanzania. Moving Mountains is a fantastic charity that focuses on long term sustainable development projects.

The first week will be spent in Kenya where we will be working with the local community undertaking building and teaching projects. We will be building a secondary school next to a primary school that Moving Mountains have already built. This part of the trip will be incredibly exciting as we will be working directly with the community and people who are benefitting from the work the charity is doing. The second week of the trip will be spent climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, where we will be working with local guides who will benefit from our fundraising efforts. 

Of the £2300 I need to raise, £1225 goes directly to the charity Moving Mountains where it will be used to help the local community. The remaining £1075 will go towards some of the expenses when we are in Africa such as accommodation and paying the wages of the local staff, meaning the money will still benefit the local community. The money donated will not be used to cover personal expenses such as flights and visas.
