Story

Hello. Thanks for cliking through to my Just Giving page.

03/11/2010 - Update
Thanks to everyone who’s already donated and help take us well past the original target.  Had my last PT session at the gym before the race yesterday and am feeling in fine fettle – especially if you take into account the cold and number of extra stones I’m still carrying!  Your donations and support have really helped keep me going through the training and here’s to yomping round Surrey on Sunday.  I don’t think any land-speed records are likely to be broken, but it’ll be a great day.  Check back for news and photos on the day and after.

18/10/2010 - Update
It's been a crazy fund-raising weekend, we've gone from 40% of our target raised up to 97% in three days. Thanks to everyone who's donated over the weekend. If you haven't donated yet, don't let this put you off, we're not a government agency and, therefore, are allowed to exceed our target! The treadmill will be getting a pounding at the gym tonight and no mistake!

15/10/2010 – Update

With three and a bit weeks to go before I hit the rolling Surrey countryside training is going well. I've managed 2-3 sessions a week in the gym and have got some kms in my legs on the treadmill. More imporantly the fundraising has gone really well so far. As you can see, we're well on our way to the target figure and at 40% plus this early on, I'd like to say thanks very much to all who've donated so far. The support is really encouraging and motivating. Cheers.

Introduction

On the 20th September this year my youngest Godson, Nate Wright, died at Christopher’s Hospice in Guildford.  The care he received in the short time he was there and, just as importantly, the support and help that his parents Alison and Dave received both before and after his death were first class.  So, being nothing if not completely reactionary, I thought the least that could be done would be to raise some money for The Chase organisation that funds Christopher’s and I’m pretty sure that whilst Nate might have been quie disturbed at the concept of his Godfather trying to run a 10k, he’d have also found it oddly compelling!  Until it was time for tea and a biscuit at any rate.

If you’d like to donate to a marvellous cause, or simply fund the painful staggering of the Lincolnshire League’s Largest Cricketer(TM), please use the Donate Now button below and follow the instructions.

Now for the devilish detail:
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

 And finally:
Nate received tonnes of support from a whole range of charities and institutions, including:

The Royal Marsden
Clic Sargant
St. George’s, Tooting

So there are plenty of donating pathways (sic) for you should this one have not exhausted your funds or taken your fancy

Cheers,

Andy
