Devizes To Westminster 125 Mile Canoe Race · 3 April 2010

Ace Africa believes in building sustainable futures for children and their communities in rural Tanzania and Kenya. We do this through improved food and economic security, health, well-being and rights awareness.

Story

On Saturday morning, Rupert Brown and Andrew Roberts set off from Devizes on a non-stop 125 mile paddling adventure; the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race. Starting at 10:00am and hoping to finish at Westminstaer Bridge 24 hours later.

The non-stop version of the race is the longest non-stop canoe race in the world; the double canoe has to be carried around 77 locks; and last year 149 started in the non-stop race, of which 55 retired.

We are raising money for ACE Africa - whose Chairman, Ben Morton did the DW with Andrew last year. Ben will also be feeding and supporting us along the Kennet and Avon Canal to Reading. You can read more at www.ace-africa.org or glance to the left.

If you want to know more about the DW, there is a website which will monitor our progress during the race (our race number is 364) http://www.dwrace.org.uk/  and there is a series of Youtube videos on last year's race.
