Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 29th April 2012, I will be running the Milton Keynes Marathon to raise funds for UCARE (Oxford). UCARE (Urology Cancer Research and Education) is a charity committed to funding new ways to fight urological cancers, such as cancer of the prostate, kidney, bladder and testis, which together represent nearly 20% of all cancers diagnosed in the UK each year. It was founded by a group of doctors and nurses based in Oxford, the people who supported me through my own treatment and operation.

I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 1996, aged 32. My daughter was 2 at the time, and my wife was pregnant with my son. We were a young family, and it was devastating news. However, in 1999 I underwent a life-saving operation at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford to remove my bladder. I received amazing treatment and care from Mr David Cranston and all of the staff there.

I have always wanted to do something to express my gratitude. I hope you will feel able to help me in my challenge of running a marathon to raise as much funding as possible for UCARE.
