<p>25 years ago this April, radioactive fallout from the Chernobyl nuclear accident was blown north into Belarus, affecting the long term health, environment and food chain of millions. It is the children there who are most vulnerable to the ongoing exposure. Incidences of thyroid cancer in children there have increased 3,000% since the disaster.</p>
<p>Many Children are born with very severe disabilities, rarely seen in the West Disowned by their parents and not allowed to travel abroad their survival depends on the orphanages. most of the funding for these establishments comes from charities in the west.</p>
<p>The Friends of Chernobyl's Children operates in Mogilev, a heavily industrialized city in Belarus which is extremely contaminated and polluted. Treatment of cancer in Belarus is difficult due to the lack of proper medication and equipment.</p>
<p>Each year the charity in Diss, Norfolk brings a group of suitable children to the UK, providing much needed respite for their shattered immune systems. Just one month of clean air, clean food, activities and TLC over a 5 year programme has been medically proven to improve their long term health prospects.</p>
<p>Every penny raised on this trip goes to the charities. 100% of the costs of the trip are met by the participants</p>
