Story

An adventure of our own for an important cause.

Andrew, Carl, Craig, Gemma, Jonathan, Kate and Stephen, leaders at 3rd Washington Scout Group are taking on the Stockton River Rat Race to raise money for St Benedicts Hospice in Sunderland. It's a 10km run with obstacles along the way, please have a look at www.stocktonriverratrace.co.uk to see what we're putting ourselves through.

St Benedicts Hospice provides specialist palliative care in Sunderland and aims to provide relief from suffering and improve the quality of life for both patients and their families.

We've been inspired by the work St Benedicts do and the support they have given to Bev Connolly and her family. Bev has been told she will not recover after a tumour was found in her brain. Bev and her husband Paul, have together not only given a huge amount to scouting in Houghton-Le-Spring as part of the worldwide family, but are also great friends.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our fundraising page. I've never ran a mile since the torture of cross country at school and it's taken me 3 months of training to get to 10km, so please donate generously.
