We work with churches, individuals and local organisations in communities worldwide, supporting people of all faiths and none to rise out of poverty. We help people survive disasters, deal with the impact of climate change, find shelter from conflict and have a voice in their communities.

Story

Andrew Underdown completed a walk of 1280 miles across Britain from Cape Cornwall to Cape Wrath on 29th July 2010

Cape Cornwall is 4 miles from Land’s End, the most south westerly point in mainland Britain; early map makers thought it was the furthest tip of Cornwall. Cape Wrath is the north westerly point.

Our route follows long distance trails (Cotswold Way, Heart of England Way, Pennine Way), local footpaths, hill tracks, mountain and moor, lanes and canals. Mostly camping but including hostels, B & B and inns. Starting after Easter and hoping to finish by the end of July. Littleborough will be the half way point.

Why?

Because it will be a great tramp passing through wonderful landscape from Cotswold villages to the wild coast of Sutherland, from Cornish coast to the open northern moors. And hoping to get to know the land that I’ve lived in and have some good conversations on the way

Can you sponsor?

If you’re feeling generous, please sponsor Christian Aid using this page.

Andrew is also supporting three other charities:

John Muir Trust - protecting and campaigning for wild land in Scotland

POPS - supporting partners of prisoners and their families

St James Church, Milnrow - especially their work with young people

For information on how to sponsor these charities, contact Andrew or visit the blog. Early pledges welcome- pay when he gets there! You can email your pledges to Andrew at underdowns@onetel.com  In August 2010, he'll let you know ar far he walked. A penny a mile would come to £12 or £13. Or a penny for each mile after the first thousand would come to £2 or £3..........
