Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Many of you will know that I am a keen runner. I have run 7 half marathons and have a P.B. of 1.27.31. However, my one marathon experience is a tale of woe. I ran in Edinburgh in 2009, despite picking up a knee injury 4 weeks prior to the event. Suffice it to say, I ended up breaking down at 20 miles - hobbling home and finishing (eventually) in a very disappointing time that I am loathe to share (!)

Anyway, it’s time to banish those demons - I'm prepped and ready, and raring to go. I've been putting in the miles after work and at the weekends, and am hoping these will pay off on April the 22nd. 3.30.00 is the aim...

So, a personal challenge, yes - but the marathon is also a great opportunity to raise money for great causes. This year, I have decided to choose a smaller charity - one that doesn't necessarily benefit from major marketing budgets and widescale media exposure...

The Ministry of Stories is a creative writing and mentoring centre for young people in east London. They use storytelling to inspire young people aged 8-18, in the belief that writing unleashes their imaginations and builds confidence, self-respect and communication.

Click here to find out more: http://www.ministryofstories.org

Over 3000 young people took part in their volunteer-led workshops and writing projects in 2010, butt in order to keep this great work going they need to raise £325,000 a year - which is where you come in...

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
