Story

Swimming has never been my thing and so while running even a half marathon is something that comes almost naturally, swimming is a different matter. I don't ever remember enjoying swimming lessons and even now during my practice sessions I feel like I'm constantly just on the right side of drowning. Still I can't complain - the water will at least be warm!

Although the event is technically a race of 2,200m, with timing chips and all, my only goal is to get to the end ... and not get bitten by sea snakes or stung by sting rays, both of which I've seen on this beach, which (up until now) is one of our favourite's.

All the funds raised will go to Toybox and its work for street children so please give what you can; I know and see the difference it makes.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
