Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. As many of you know, my dad recently suffered from bacterial meningitis and septicaemia. If nothing else, I am a man of research and I have chosen to raise money for a charity dedicated to researching meningitis and septicaemia, aiming to improve treatments and prognosis of those who suffer from the infection. With some very good fortune, my dad has been one of the lucky ones who survived, but I have now, in my shame, decided to run a 15k race in celebration of his survival and in defiance of the infection which nearly cost him his life, hoping to make some small contribution to a charity doing serious work to ensure meningitis and septicaemia can become just a minor annoyance.

As for the run - many of my friends are doing this alongside me on the 3rd March: Simon Riches (running 15k), Emese Csipke (10k) Ilaria Bonoldi (running 15K), Tamatha Ruffell, Bungle Ruffell, Vic Cole (running 5k) and you can donate to their efforts on this page. 15k may very well destroy me, so please donate generously.
