On Sunday 20th September I will be running 13.1 miles from Newcastle city centre to South Shields seafront in the world's biggest half marathon. On my last outing in 2007 I ran a time of 1 hr 32 mins. I hope to go abit quicker this year!

I am running on behalf of a great charity: Depaul Uk has made a name for itself by working with the most disadvantaged young people in the UK.  They specialise in working in communities where poverty and long-term unemployment have resulted in generations of social exclusion and high rates of homelessness.

I did some work experience with the charity and so saw first hand the commitment and organisation that goes into the schemes and projects that aim to help youngsters gain self-respect and reaffirm their link to the local community that they live.
