I am raising funds for Diverse Abilities Plus. I have been involved with this charity for over a year now, initially working as an Interim HR Manager. However, when I ceased paid employment with them in April this year, they then asked me become a Trustee, which I accepted readily. They are a wonderful charity, based in Poole, providing support and care to people, (of all ages; adults and children), with profound physical and/or learning disabilities with complex needs. The aim is to allow the people they support to have as much control of their lives, and to make their own decisions in life as much as possible. I would strongly encourage you to look at the website to find out much more about what the charity does.

Although I have run most of life, and have run many marathons, I have been more inactive of late, and this will be my first full marathon since 2002. Nevertheless I am training hard, and as of now, (early November), have completed four 20 mile runs and three16 mile runs. I am therefore feeling confident and my target time is to get under four hours. I shall also be motivated by running through the beautiful streets of Florence.

 

As I am paying for the trip myself I can reassure you that every penny you give will go directly to the charity.

Postscript; it is now 30th November, and I have completed the marathon in 3 hours 56 minutes, so inside my 4 hour target. However, it is not too late to sponsor me. This page will be open for some time yet.
