Story
The fact that you have got this far means that you are at least considering donating to this fantastic charity. Thank you.
This came about when one of my Information Security pals (yes, I really do have them) (but business, not social, let me be clear) said "Andy, how do you fancy cycling 420km through Death Valley in the Mojave Desert in Southern California, one of the most inhospitable places on earth?". Within minutes I had of course signed up. Why wouldn't you?
Jackie's step father, Alan, had been suffering from cancer for quite some time, and as is the way these days, much of the care was provided at home. Over this long period, St Barnabas hospice in Boston have been giving wonderful support to Alan and to Jackie's mum, Janet, and to all of the family - just being there, and providing care and comfort, as and when needed. Jan has a huge family and network of support, but having these angels, being there and local, made all of the difference to her and Alan.
When Alan gave up his fight in May, I knew that I wanted to undertake this considerable challenge to raise money for this great charity.
Since then, I have teamed up with my IT management colleagues and signed up for the Prudential RideLondon event on 3 August – I am also dedicating this ride to raising money for the St. Barnabas Hospice.
Please give as much as you can. And then a little bit more.
