I reached Uhuru Peak, the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro at 6.45 on 1st March 2012, just as the sun rose form the clouds below us. A massive thank you to everyone who has donated so far, but if you have sponsored me and not yet paid, I now have a big heavy medal to come and beat the money out of you with. So you had better cough up. Lol!

Slept in garage last night in -4c to see if my sleeping bag. is gonna cut the mustard on Kilimanjaro where the temp could be -25c. Mmm, still not convinced I won't freeze!

Gut busting Cake sale in the staff canteen at Tesco Rosehill on Thursday 2nd Feb. You dont have to eat it, but you do have to have it! Raised £84. I'm really full now and should probably go for a walk!

Karaoke Christmas and the instore collection by the local Branch of the society raised over £900 today, Amamzing!

Charity race night raised £700 for Alzheimer's Society and another £700 for Mencap! Whoop Whoop! Thanks to everyone for their fantastic support, what a great night and brilliant result.

 

Solihull fireworks party adds another £340 to the pot. :)

I am joining a team of Tesco colleagues on a ten day challenge to climb Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro in February 2012, just two months before I turn 40. I thought I would get “over the hill” before I was 40, so chose a whopper, the 19330ft Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. This trip is the opportunity of a lifetime, not only the physical challenge of climbing Kilimanjaro but more importantly raising awareness and money for research into Dementia. My Grandmother and great aunt both have forms of dementia so this is a cause very close to my heart. Funding means a better quality of life for sufferers and research means better treatments in the future and perhaps even a cure. Something we may all be glad of in our later lives.
