  • FRIDAY 3 JUNE FINAL UPDATE:

    They made it!!

Jonathan, Andy and the support team arrived at Lands End today after a gruelling last day cycling through what felt  like the hilliest bits of Cornwall.  Brilliant sunshine and fantastic scenery.  We celebrated in the First and Last Inn at Sennen, where you can see the team T shirt displayed on the ceiling of the bar along with those of other fund raisers who have made it to Lands End over the years.  Both cyclists made it without serious injury, though are obviously feeling a bit sore!

Many many thanks to everyone who donated so generously to raise this fantastic amount of money for the charities.  We still have some offline donations to put on, so keep watching for the final total.

The grand total was 571 miles.

  • Sunday 29 May

Really hard day yesterday - high head winds and torrential rain at the start meant it took 4 hours to do 33 miles.  Weather improved in the afternoon and they notched up a total of 76 over the whole day. Average speed was 17 - 20 mph in the afternoon.

They called in to friends at Lymm just outside Manchester before setting up camp for the night.

    Latest route map
  • Sunday 29 May: they made it to Morecambe Bay last night and stayed at a local campsite.  On board computer clocked up 84 miles. Here is a link to a map of the route, which I will be updating as they progress:

  • SATURDAY 28 May: The big day!  Andy, Jonathan, Sue and Ros have just started their journey to Carlisle for the start of the bike ride after a last minute check that they hadn't left the oven on.  They just managed to fit all their camping gear, first aid kits and cereal bars in.  They are meeting up with Penny and Harry the dog in Manchester later today.

Thankfully the wind and rain seem to have died down.

Watch this space for updates along the way.
